Plexr Liverpool

Plexr Liverpool is the miracle ‘lunchtime eye lift’ that’s got Liverpool talking in 2017.  Many patients complain of hooded, baggy or saggy eyelids.  Unfortunately this is an inherent – often genetic – trait that worsens for many as they age.  Until recently surgery was the only real possibility to rejuvenate this delicate area of the face.  The surgical procedure involves the patient going under general anaesthetic and having the skin and fat cut from the eye with a scalpel.  Unfortunately this procedure (known as a blepharoplasty) is something many patients are not prepared to go through.

Plexr Soft Surgery is a non-surgical solution to excess eyelid skin that rejuvenates the eyes helping patients look refreshed, confident and youthful.  It’s sometimes said that the eyes give you away.  With anti-ageing this is certainly true as the eyes are the focus of a person’s face and keeping them looking refreshed and alert is the key to a youthful appearance.  Plexr treatment is much less invasive than a conventional blepharoplasty and the healing time is measured in days rather than months.  Here’s Dr MJ Rowland-Warmann in our Liverpool clinic with a detailed explanation of the plexr procedure:

Plexr | Smileworks Liverpool

The trend in recent years has been away from surgical interventions and towards less invasive rejuvenation techniques. Soft surgery refers to aesthetic treatments that don’t involve risky general anaesthetics, cutting with scalpels or hospital stays.  They deliver similar results but with none of these unwanted elements.  Other soft surgeries you may have heard of here in Liverpool include the ‘puppet facelift’ or Silhouette thread-lift.  This procedure gives results similar to a surgical facelift but without cutting, hospitals or general anaesthetics.  Plexr was launched in 2014 and hailed as a breakthrough for patients wanting blepharoplasty treatment without going under the knife.

Plexr involves minimal downtime and the procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic.  There’s not even a need for local anaesthetic injections and many providers simply use topical numbing cream to reduce discomfort during the procedure.  This is because patients tolerate the procedure extremely well and few complain of any discomfort.  In addition, there is no need for cutting with scalpels, sutures or extensive healing time because the procedure is non-invasive.  The excess skin is literally vaporised away and tightens during the weeks that follow your plexr procedure.

Your Plexr Treatment

You should expect your treatment to last around an hour.  Your consultation will begin with a discussion of Plexr and the results that can be achieved.  It’s important for our aesthetician to correctly assess your skin and give you all the information about the process.  This includes what to expect and what can be achieved with Plexr  A local anaesthetic is then delivered.  Depending on your preference, this can either be a topical anaesthetic cream or an injection.  An anaesthetic injection will produce a more profound numbing of the treated area and can be more comfortable for many patients.

The plexr device is then directed towards the target area and the skin will immediately contract and be removed.  The actual treatment time is between 20-30 minutes.  Following treatment there will be some brown spots that will scab over in the next few weeks and leave tightened, refreshed skin underneath.  We recommend up to three separate treatments to get really perfect results.  These treatments are included in the price and we urge patients to watch out for practices offering seemingly discount procedures.  These will only involve one treatment and either you won’t get good enough results or end up paying three times the quoted price.  Here at Smileworks we are up front about our treatment costs and you can be assured of a beautiful result that will last a lifetime.

Plexr eyelid lift

The reason patients come to us for Plexr in Liverpool is that they have saggy, droopy or baggy eyelids.  Problems you might experience are looking tired or older than you feel.  Also patients typically complain that they can’t apply eye makeup because there’s too much floppy skin on their upper lids.

This is described by aestheticians as having ‘hooded lids’ and a low-lying upper eyelid is described medically as a ‘blepharoptosis’ or simply ‘ptosis’.  This is unfortunately caused by your genetic makeup but can be worsened as you age.  Because the eyes are the focus of your face, many patients will get down about their hooded lids.  Either you’ll have lived with droopy lids your entire life or they might have recently worsened.  Either way, you can end up feeling older, looking tired or worrying about them.

Enter the eye lift.  The procedure was, until the arrival of Plexr, only available surgically.  Thanks to recent technological advances the procedure is now able to be carried out right here at Smileworks Liverpool.

Plexr Soft Surgery vs Blepharoplasty

Conventional blepharoplasty surgery involves cutting the upper or lower eyelids with a scalpel.  The treatment is carried out in a hospital and patients will usually stay the night.  The treatment may be carried out under general aesthetic and once the skin and fat is removed, the area is sown together and begins to heal.

The process is invasive and carries risks of complications during surgery.  These could be serious and irreversible.  Additionally the treatment takes months to heal and patients sometimes complain that the results aren’t even and a blepharoplasty revision might be required’  The initial procedure typically costs between £2,500-6,000 and is carried out by a facial plastic surgeon.  Many patients cannot afford to spend this much on their eye lift and the price is yet another benefit of choosing Plexr over a conventional blepharoplasty.

A Plexr eye lift on the other hand is performed under local anaesthetic and takes around 30 minutes surgery time and 1 hour in total at our practice.  There is significantly reduced downtime and you’ll be able to resume normal activities immediately and have brown spots around the treated areas for a number of days.  Plexr differs from surgery in that you’ll return for two or three treatments but will not need to stay over in hospital.

The cost is a third of surgery (£1,200-£1,800) and there is not the need for revisions or any permanent side effects – other than removal of the excess skin.  Just like the surgical procedure, Plexr is permanent and the results will last a lifetime subject to your normal ageing profile.  This means you won’t magically stop getting older at your Plexr appointment.  Smileworks can do amazing things but breaking the laws of nature is not one of them!

Plexr Skin Tightening

Plexr works by directing a tiny arc of Plasma at the target area.  This vaporises the top layer of skin and causes the skin to contract.  Here’s a video of how the procedure works.  You can actually see some contraction of the skin immediately.  During the healing process the contraction continues giving you the desired results.  Take a look below at the Plexr treatment video to see Plexr in action.

It’s possible to see the skin tightening immediately from the video but remember that the procedure comes in three parts and this is a video of the first one only.  Also the healing process causes a more profound skin tightening that is apparent from the before and after pictures below.

Your Plexr Procedure

Here’s Plexr skin tightening in action at our Liverpool clinic.  You can actually see the skin being zapped away and tightening as the Plexr device moves over each area.  This also gives you an idea of what Plexr looks like post-treatment.  The small brown and yellow spots will stay for a number of days following your procedure.

Easily the best dentist appointment I've had. I was recommended to go by a friend who couldn't have spoken more highly of them. The facilities are top notch, service friendly and comforting. The staff were great. The treatment was thorough, honest and well explained. First class (excuse the airline pun...you'll see why!)

I found Smileworks after looking online for the best specialist orthodontist, and after several visits now, I do believe that they live up to the hype! Every visit has been a pleasure, with the excellent reception always offering a warm and hearty welcome. Due to the severity of problems with my teeth, my treatment plan is extensive and means that despite being early days, I have met with and been treated by a range of the staff here; I can confirm that they're all fantastic and incredibly thorough - everything is explained in detail and nothing is ever rushed. I should also thank Paula (and her assistant whose name I've forgotten - sorry!) yesterday for cleaning the insides of my teeth so thoroughly when I don't even think it was necessarily part of the appointment (the appointment was for a filling). I look forward to continued excellent care from Smileworks and can't wait to get my braces on! Cheers guys!

Absolutely great find. Friendly staff and MJ who treated me was professional, reassuring and positively fantastic about what my needs were and what I was looking for. There was no pressure on anything and she spoke in depth about full details on every procedure without any rush in me in making an option. I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you once again!

Absolutely excellent service. All the staff are friendly and make sure all your treatment options are fully explained. Don't do anything unless your 100% sure of all that's available. Shiron made sure my treatment was the absolute best it could be.

I had dental work and a procedure on my top lip. I was really nervous on my first visit but the staff are truly lovely and put me at ease straight away. I loved the quirkiness of the waiting room- very different from any dentist/doctors waiting room I've been in. The treatment rooms are very clean, love the design and layout. I also loved the patients photo smiles on the wall!! straight away I relaxed and I could feel the friendliness of the staff. MJ really listened to my fears and listened to what I required, she understood completely my views and the treatment I received was given exactly as I requested!! They really want to help you and they're interested in what you have to say - they love their job!!! I've made a follow up visit and will continue to use them. I've also recommended Smileworks to my friends and will continue to do so.
