You want to get on with your life
Perhaps you’re chewing on one side. Checking whether a gap shows in photographs. Or covering your mouth when you laugh without even noticing you’re doing it.
You might have lost a tooth years ago. You might have just been told one needs to come out. Either way, you want to know what can be done.
You need someone you can trust.
We’ll start there. No lecture about how you got here. No pressure to choose treatment. Just a careful look at your teeth and a conversation about what would make life better.
Meet the dentist who will look after you

Dr Jihad Kader — Head of Implantology and Clinical Lead
BDS · Diploma in Restorative Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons of England · Master’s degree in Oral Implantology · GDC 245088 JK treats straightforward missing teeth and difficult cases involving damaged teeth, lost bone and gum tissue. He also teaches and mentors dentists in implant and restorative dentistry.
That experience matters even when you’re replacing one tooth. The implant needs to sit in the right place for the tooth above it. The gum needs to frame it properly. The colour, shape and bite need to work with the teeth you already have.
JK plans all of that together. His work includes implant surgery, crowns, bridges, bone grafting and gum reconstruction, so he can see how each part of your treatment affects the next.
He’s also calm, approachable and good at explaining things. Ask him to show you what he means. Tell him if you’re frightened. His job is to help you understand your options and make a decision you feel comfortable with.
More than 1,000 implants placed, according to JK’s reported clinical experience.
JK reports around five to ten initial failures across that experience, with all subsequently replaced successfully. His estimated initial implant survival rate is 99–99.5%.* These figures are clinician-reported and have not been independently audited. They describe implant survival, not a guarantee of an individual result; a defined follow-up period has not been supplied.
“i have felt in safe hands through a long and sometimes arduous set of treatments entirely thanks to him.”

“Jihad took his time, was very gentle, thorough and careful, and was clear in his aftercare instructions.”

Dental implants explained
A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. It’s a small titanium implant placed in the jawbone. The bone heals around it to create a firm foundation for your replacement tooth.
The part you see is a crown, made to fit your smile. A connector called an abutment joins it to the implant underneath.
At Smileworks, we use Osstem implants. JK chooses the implant design to suit the space, bone and tooth being replaced.
A single tooth implant
A single implant supports one replacement tooth without relying on the neighbouring teeth to hold it in place.
For a missing front tooth, JK pays particular attention to the colour, shape and gum line so the crown blends into your smile. For a missing back tooth or molar, comfortable chewing and a balanced bite matter just as much as appearance.
Replacing several missing teeth
If you have several missing teeth next to each other, an implant-supported bridge may replace them without needing a separate implant for every tooth.
JK checks the gap, bone and bite before recommending how many implants you need. He also plans how you’ll clean around the finished teeth.
Missing teeth in different parts of your mouth may need a different approach. Your plan will explain each area and its cost.
If you need an entire upper or lower set of teeth replaced, see our separate All-on-4 page.

Dental implants before and after
The best result is a tooth that looks like it belongs to you.
Matching one front tooth takes careful work: its shape, colour, the way it catches the light and how it meets the gum. JK’s experience rebuilding bone and gum tissue helps him plan the support around the tooth as well as the crown itself.
At your consultation, ask to see cases similar to yours. JK can explain what was involved and what may be possible for your own teeth.

Your £90 implant consultation
Meet JK. Get answers. Find out what you actually need
Calling around is useful, but nobody can plan your implant treatment over the phone. We need to look at your teeth.
For £90, you’ll meet JK, have an assessment and talk through your options and costs. If he needs more scans before giving you a firm plan, he’ll tell you.
You don’t need to arrive knowing which treatment you want. That’s what the appointment is for.
First, we listen. Tell JK what’s bothering you, what you want to change and what worries you about treatment. Money, pain, taking time off work. It all belongs in the conversation.
Then, he examines your mouth. JK assesses your teeth, gums and bite, reviews your medical history and explains the X-rays or scans needed to understand the bone beneath the gap.
You discuss the options. Can a damaged tooth be saved? Would an implant or a bridge make more sense? Is any preparation needed first?
He’ll explain his recommendation and the alternatives.
You get a written treatment plan. This sets out the proposed work and costs. We explain the appointments, healing stages, temporary-tooth options and ongoing care. If further investigations are needed before the plan can be finalised, you’ll know what they are and why.
The £90 is for a clinical consultation with your implant dentist.
You’re paying for JK’s assessment and advice, with time to ask questions. Our treatment coordinators help with appointments, payment options and any practical questions afterwards.
You can take time to think. You don’t have to decide in the chair.

Dental implant cost in Liverpool
Single dental implants at Smileworks start from £2,500. Your consultation with JK is £90.
The total depends on the teeth being replaced and the work needed to support them. An extraction, bone graft, gum treatment or sedation can change the cost. We explain any additional work before you agree to it.
Your written quote sets out the treatment and what’s included. Ask us to go through it with you, line by line if that helps.
What are you paying for?
Replacing a tooth involves more than placing the implant. It means assessing your mouth, planning the surgery, choosing the implant, making the crown and checking how everything fits and works together.
You’re paying for JK’s surgical and restorative skills, the clinical team, the implant components and the laboratory work specified in your plan. You should understand the cost of your finished tooth, including which scans, temporary teeth and follow-up appointments are included or charged separately.
For several adjacent missing teeth, an implant-supported bridge may cost less than replacing each tooth with an individual implant and crown. JK will explain whether that is a suitable option for you.
Can I spread the cost?
Finance is available, subject to affordability, age and status.
Minimum spend applies. Our team can explain the available terms, monthly payments and total amount repayable.
Tell us what you’re comfortable spending. We can discuss the suitable options and whether treatment can be arranged in stages.
The dental implant procedure: what happens next?
1. Agree your plan
After your consultation, you decide whether to go ahead. We organise the necessary scans and planning, discuss your temporary tooth and explain what to expect at each appointment. Any gum treatment, extraction or grafting is planned into the sequence.
2. Place the implant
JK numbs the area with local anaesthetic before placing the implant.
If you’re anxious, we can discuss IV sedation and whether it’s suitable for you.
We check that you’re comfortable and explain what’s happening. You can tell us if you need a pause.
3. Give it time to heal
The bone needs time to heal around the implant before it can support the final tooth. Treatment usually takes several months, and grafting or other preparation can make it longer.
We give you written aftercare instructions, check your healing and explain what you can eat and how to clean the area. Your temporary-tooth arrangement is planned before surgery, particularly where the gap is visible.
4. Fit your new tooth
When the implant is ready, we fit the final crown or bridge. JK checks its appearance, fit and bite, and asks how it feels to you.
We show you how to clean around it and arrange your ongoing reviews.
If something bothers you between appointments, contact us. You don’t have to wait until your next check-up.
Your questions, answered properly
These answers explain how we approach implant treatment at Smileworks. Your appointment is where JK applies them to your teeth.
Do I actually need an implant, or can my tooth be saved?
JK checks that first. A broken tooth or failed treatment does not automatically mean you need an implant.
As he puts it: “We explore all the options.” He considers whether the tooth can reasonably be saved and compares the likely lifespan, cost, appearance and function of the suitable treatments. If another option makes more sense, he’ll tell you.
Is an implant better than a dental bridge?
It depends on your mouth. An implant supports its own replacement tooth. A conventional bridge uses neighbouring teeth for support, which can mean preparing those teeth.
JK looks at the condition of the teeth beside the gap, your bone, bite and budget. His work includes both implants and bridges, so you can discuss the alternatives with the dentist who understands how each would work for you.
I’m embarrassed about my teeth. What will you think?
We’ll be thinking about how to help.
You don’t need to apologise for your teeth or explain why you haven’t come sooner. Tell us what’s been difficult. JK’s patients include people who have put off treatment for years and people who are frightened even making the appointment.
You don’t have to arrive feeling brave.
Will implant surgery hurt? Can I have sedation?
Local anaesthetic numbs the area. You may feel pressure or movement, but you should not feel sharp pain. If you’re uncomfortable, tell us so we can respond.
JK offers IV sedation where appropriate. It helps you feel relaxed, and you may remember little of the appointment. You still receive local anaesthetic to numb the treatment area.
If you have sedation, we’ll explain the preparation, escort arrangements and restrictions afterwards. We’ll help you organise this before the day.
Will I have a gap while the implant heals?
Tell us if this is worrying you, especially if we’re replacing a front tooth. We plan temporary teeth with you before treatment so you know what you’ll be wearing while the implant heals.
The type of temporary tooth depends on the position of the gap and how the healing area needs to be protected. It isn’t always possible to attach a fixed tooth to a new implant immediately. JK will explain the suitable arrangement for you.
Will my new tooth look fake?
Our aim is for it to blend in with your own teeth. JK plans the shape and colour of the crown alongside the gum line and the position of the implant underneath.
Tell him what matters to you. You may want to keep the character of your smile rather than make everything whiter or more uniform.
Photographs, digital planning and work with our technicians help him match the result to you. If you’re unsure about the colour or shape, say so before the final fit.
Will it feel like my own tooth?
It may feel unfamiliar at first, particularly if you’ve had a gap for a long time. An implant does not reproduce every sensation of a natural tooth, but the aim is comfortable eating, speaking and smiling.
JK checks how your teeth meet when you bite. If your new tooth feels too high, uncomfortable or loose, contact us rather than trying to get used to it.
I’ve been told I don’t have enough bone. Can JK help?
It’s worth having the situation assessed. JK’s work includes bone grafting, sinus lifting and rebuilding gum tissue, as well as implant placement.
He’ll review your scans to see where support is available and whether grafting or another approach could help. Sometimes additional treatment makes implants possible; sometimes another option is better. He won’t promise an implant before checking what your mouth can support.
What are bone grafts and sinus lifts?
A bone graft adds bone or a bone substitute where more support is needed for an implant. A sinus lift creates room for additional bone beneath the sinus in the upper back jaw.
Not everyone needs either procedure. If you do, JK will show you why, explain the materials and discuss the effect on cost and healing time. His training includes both procedures, so they can be considered as part of your overall plan.
Can I have implants if I smoke or have gum disease?
If you smoke, JK will ask you to stop before offering implant treatment. Tell us at your consultation so we can discuss the next steps.
If you have active gum disease, we need to address it first. Our dental therapy team can help with treatment and cleaning, and JK can reassess when your gums are healthier. He also reviews your health and medicines before recommending surgery.
How long does treatment take? Will I need time off work?
Expect a series of appointments over several months rather than one visit. The timing depends on whether a tooth needs removing, whether you need grafting and how the implant heals.
We’ll discuss time off around your actual procedure and job. A single implant is different from extensive surgery. Allow time to rest after placement, and tell us if your work is physical or involves lots of speaking. Sedation also affects when you can drive and return to normal activities.
What can I eat afterwards?
You’ll need to protect the healing area and follow the advice for your particular implant and temporary tooth. That usually means softer food initially and avoiding heavy pressure on the treated area.
JK gives written aftercare instructions and checks healing before advising you to do more. A tooth can look ready before the bone underneath is ready for normal chewing.
What are the risks?
Tenderness, swelling, bruising and some bleeding can follow implant surgery. Infection, failure to heal into the bone and damage to nearby structures are also possible. The risks depend on where the implant is placed and your health.
JK uses examination, imaging and careful planning to assess those risks. He’ll explain the ones relevant to you, how he reduces them and what happens if a problem develops. No implant procedure is risk-free.
What if an implant fails or something feels wrong?
Call us. You don’t need to work out whether something is normal before asking for help.
JK’s experience includes managing complications as well as placing implants. He reports that all initial failures in his own implant experience have been successfully replaced.
We’ll assess the problem, explain the options and discuss any costs or applicable guarantee cover before further treatment. Your care doesn’t end when your new tooth is fitted.
What does the five-year implant guarantee cover?
We offer a five-year implant guarantee with maintenance requirements.
JK explains that patients need six-monthly dental checks, hygiene appointments at least twice a year and to follow the cleaning advice given. He also monitors the bone around the implants with appropriate X-rays.
We’ll go through the written terms with you before treatment, including what is covered and what is required to keep the guarantee valid. Ask us specifically about the implant, crown, repairs and replacement costs so you understand the cover for your treatment.
How long do dental implants last?
They are intended as a long-term tooth replacement, but they are not maintenance-free and we won’t promise they will last forever.
Your gums and the bone around the implant need ongoing care. The crown above it may also need repair or replacement over time. We show you how to clean around your new tooth and check the implant, gums and bite at your reviews.
Can I come for a second opinion without committing to treatment?
Yes. Bring your existing plan and any questions you have about it. JK regularly reviews difficult treatment plans and can explain what he would recommend and why.
Your £90 consultation is a chance to understand your options. You can take the advice away and decide in your own time.

Your implant consultation is £90. Meet JK, discuss your teeth and get a clear explanation of your options and costs.
You’ve done the research. Let’s make a plan.
Comparing dentists makes sense. But there’s only so much you can learn from websites and phone calls. To tell you what you need, an implant dentist needs to examine your mouth.
For £90, sit down with JK. Tell him what worries you. Ask your questions. He’ll assess your teeth and explain your options, the treatment, the cost and the timescale. If he needs further scans or investigations to give you a firm answer, he’ll explain why.
We know booking can feel like a big step. You’re booking a conversation and an assessment. The decision about treatment comes afterwards.
