Is a dental plan worth it?

Compare the full membership cost with the visits you need and will use.

At our current pay-as-you-go prices, an existing-patient check-up costs £88.55 and a non-member scale and polish costs £109.25.

Pay as you go£395.60

Two check-ups + two scale and polish appointments

Smileworks Membership£283.20

Twelve payments at £23.60

Two of each cost £395.60. Twelve Smileworks Membership payments total £283.20.

This comparison assumes the same routine appointments and that you use all four. It excludes any joining or initial assessment charges and gives no value to X-rays or other benefits. If you need fewer visits, paying as you go may suit you better.

What costs extra?

Your membership includes the care listed for your plan. Other treatment costs extra.

Adult members get 10% off necessary dental treatment. The discount does not apply to cosmetic treatments. Ask which treatments qualify and when the discount starts.

If you need a filling, crown or other work, we’ll confirm the price and any member discount. Extra hygiene visits and treatment you already need are not automatically included.

What a member says

I am on a monthly membership so the cost is easy to manage and I book my next appointment every time I come in so it’s always in the calendar.

How to get started

New patients need a dentist’s check-up before hygiene treatment. The current new-patient fee is £90. We can arrange both appointments for the same visit.

Tell us you’re interested in membership. Ask whether your first check-up is included or charged separately and when you can start using your plan.

Already a patient? We can help you choose a plan for your usual care.

Your questions

Is membership dental insurance?

Membership pays for the listed care at Smileworks. It does not cover every dental bill. Any emergency protection has its own terms and limits.

What if I already need treatment?

Tell us before joining. We’ll assess what you need and explain the cost. Ask whether the member discount applies.

If you’re in pain, contact us for an emergency dental assessment. Don’t wait to arrange membership.

How often should I see the hygienist?

Your dentist or dental hygiene therapist will recommend a schedule based on your dental health and oral hygiene needs. More visits are not automatically better.

Can I pay as I go or use the NHS?

You can pay our published fees for individual appointments. If you can access an NHS dentist, NHS care is another option for clinically necessary treatment. Different charges apply. Cosmetic treatment is usually private.

Is membership treatment finance?

No. Finance spreads the cost of a course of treatment. Membership pays for the listed care and benefits.
