What is tooth bonding?

We carefully shape composite resin over the edges and faces of your teeth to produce truly breath-taking results. The process is fast, safe and costs a fraction of most cosmetic alternatives such as porcelain veneers and braces.
The treatment can:

  • Correct the shape and size of teeth for cosmetic perfection
  • Correct slight misalignment (if one tooth is outside the arch)
  • Completely restore front teeth for astounding ‘smile makeover’ results
  • Fix chips, cracks and broken teeth so they look brand new
  • Restore damage done by decay or worn down teeth
  • Close small gaps between teeth

The composite resin will be matched to the existing shade of your teeth. If you want your teeth whiter, we whiten first and then add the composite resin for really super results.  For more information on whitening click here:  teeth whitening.  Composite bonding does not help prevent tooth decay or help gum health. Our dentists will always assess the health of your smile and may help you with gum health or decay before starting cosmetic work. If you want composite resin placed on then entire front surface of your tooth instead of just the edges, composite veneers might be a better option for you.

Composite Bonding FAQ

How much does composite bonding cost in Liverpool?

Composite bonding usually ranges from £150 to £350 per tooth, depending on the complexity of the case, the number of teeth involved, and whether treatment is carried out by a dentist or therapist. At Smileworks, simple edge bonding treatments usually fall at the lower end of this range, while more detailed reshaping or multi-surface bonding may cost more. We always provide a personalised written quote after your consultation, so you know the exact cost before any treatment begins.

Why do composite bonding prices vary so much between clinics?

Not all bonding treatments are the same. The cost depends on the number of teeth being treated, how much reshaping and layering is required, the quality of composite material used, the time spent sculpting and finishing, and the experience of the dentist or therapist. Cheaper bonding often involves quicker placement with less detailed shaping and far less polishing, which affects both appearance and how long the bonding lasts.

Is cheaper composite bonding a false economy?

Sometimes, yes. Lower-priced bonding can look acceptable at first, but poorly finished composite is more likely to stain, chip or wear quickly. In some cases composite is placed on teeth with bite problems, meaning it keeps breaking and coming off repeatedly. Bulky or unnatural results are often a sign of rushed, low-quality work. Well-placed bonding should last many years and look natural, so paying more for experienced cosmetic dentists usually works out cheaper in the long term.

How long does composite bonding last?

Composite bonding typically lasts 3 to 7 years, and often longer with good care. Longevity depends on bite forces, grinding or clenching, oral hygiene, diet and staining habits, and especially the quality of placement and polishing. High-quality bonding placed by experienced dentists can remain stable and attractive for many years.

Is composite bonding cheaper than veneers?

Yes. Composite bonding is significantly cheaper than porcelain or composite veneers. Composite bonding usually costs £150 to £350 per tooth, while porcelain veneers typically range from £700 to £1,200 per tooth. Bonding is ideal for small corrections and minor cosmetic changes, while veneers are better suited to larger smile makeovers or more dramatic transformations.

Does composite bonding damage natural teeth?

Absolutely not. Composite bonding is one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available. No drilling is required, no enamel is removed, and the procedure is fully reversible. This is one of the main reasons bonding is often recommended as a first cosmetic option.

Can composite bonding be repaired or adjusted?

Yes. Composite bonding can be easily repaired if chipped, polished if stained, and adjusted if the shape needs refining. This flexibility makes it more cost-effective over time compared with many other cosmetic dental treatments.

Do you offer payment plans for composite bonding?

Yes. We offer interest-free finance options to spread the cost of treatment over several months. Our treatment coordinators can explain the available plans during your consultation and help you choose an option that suits your budget.

How do I know if composite bonding is right for me?

The best way to find out is with a consultation or by using our upload a selfie assessment. A cosmetic dentist will assess tooth shape and alignment, shade, bite and wear patterns, and take into account your goals and expectations before recommending the most suitable treatment.

Is composite bonding worth the money?

For many patients, yes. Composite bonding offers immediate results in one visit, no scary drilling, much lower cost than veneers, and ultra-natural improvements. It is one of the most cost-effective ways to enhance your smile safely and conservatively.
