what are veneers?
Veneers are ultra-thin layers of tooth-coloured resin or porcelain that are carefully placed over the surface of your teeth. The new surface hides the old one that might be damaged or yellow. They can change the shape, colour, and overall look of your teeth. The result is a beautiful, lifelike transformation and a renewed confidence in your smile.
At Smileworks, we offer two types of veneers:
Porcelain Veneers – custom-made in a dental lab, these offer the most durable and stain-resistant solution. They're perfect for dramatic long-lasting transformation.
Composite Veneers – sculpted directly onto your teeth in a single visit, these are a more affordable and minimally invasive option that still delivers beautiful results.
You can get veneers placed on as many teeth as you like. Some patients will only get it on two teeth, while others might get it on every visible upper and lower tooth. This is completely up to you, and your dentist will work with you to design your dream smile.

porcelain veneers liverpool
Porcelain veneers are the gold standard for smile transformations. If you're looking for a long-lasting, durable solution to transform crooked, chipped, or discoloured teeth, porcelain veneers deliver exceptional results that can last 10-15 years or more.
Our talented cosmetic dentists and ceramists work together to create custom porcelain veneers that will 'wow' you. Each veneer is meticulously crafted in a specialist dental laboratory to match your desired shade, shape, and size. Your teeth will be so perfect you'll never stop smiling.
It's the ultimate investment in your smile. The high-quality ceramic material mimics the natural translucency of tooth enamel, creating an incredibly lifelike appearance. Unlike composite resin, porcelain is highly resistant to staining from coffee, tea, wine, and other pigmented food and drinks.
Think of porcelain veneers like acrylic nails. Our dentists design and shape them from the finest materials so they can fit perfectly to your teeth. You'll get your dream Hollywood smile with results that look completely natural.
composite veneers liverpool
Composite veneers offer a fast, affordable, and minimally invasive way to achieve a beautiful smile transformation. If you want stunning results without the wait or the higher price tag of porcelain, composite veneers are an excellent choice.
Also known as 'same-day veneers,' composite veneers are sculpted directly onto your teeth using advanced tooth-coloured resin. Our expert dentists use their artistic skill to create a symmetrical, natural-looking smile in just one appointment. You'll walk into our practice and leave the same day with a brand new look.
They are the most conservative veneer option available. Unlike porcelain veneers, there's no drilling or shaving down your natural teeth. Your underlying tooth structure is kept fully intact, making this a completely reversible treatment if you ever change your mind.
The composite resin material we use is of the highest quality, allowing us to match your natural tooth colour or create a brighter, whiter shade if that's what you're after. Whatever kind of smile you want, we can help you achieve it.

porcelain vs composite veneers
Still not sure which type of veneer is right for you? Here's a side-by-side comparison to help you decide:
PORCELAIN VENEERS
Last 10-15 years (sometimes longer with proper care)
Require two appointments (1-2 weeks apart)
More stain-resistant and durable
Higher cost: £850-£1100 per tooth
Minimal tooth preparation required
Made in an off-site dental lab for perfect customisation
Best for long-term investment and maximum durability
COMPOSITE VENEERS
Last 5-7 years
Completed in one appointment
More affordable: £300-£450 per tooth
Minimally invasive – no drilling or shaving required
Applied directly to teeth by your dentist
Easily repairable if damaged
Best for budget-conscious patients and same-day results
Both options deliver stunning, natural-looking results. Your dentist will help you decide which is best for your individual needs, lifestyle, and budget.
composite bonding vs composite veneers
Many use the terms composite bonding and composite veneers interchangeably, but they are actually two different treatments. While both use the same high-quality composite resin, they serve slightly different purposes.
Composite edge bonding fixes minor chips, cracks, and gaps on the edges of your teeth. Bonding lasts 5-7 years, and costs start at £200 per tooth.
On the other hand, composite veneers cover the entire front surface of the tooth. This offers a full smile transformation. Composite veneers last about the same amount of time as composite bonding, but veneers costs instead start at £300 per tooth.
the veneer process
At Smilworks Liverpool, we make achieving your dream smile simple, efficient, and pain-free. Here's what you can expect from the process:
1. Consultation & Smile Planning
For your initial consultation, you’ll be matched with a dentist who will conduct a full assessment of your mouth. They’ll make sure everything is healthy and good to go. We cannot move forward with any cosmetic treatment until we confirm you have no untreated cavities or gum disease.
To make sure you get the best result possible, they'll use photography, intra-oral video cameras, and advanced diagnostic procedures. Your dentist will also discuss your smile goals with you and create a plan for how to achieve that. This is your time to tell us exactly what you want done. Then simply leave it to us to make it happen.
2. Treatment Planning & Mock-Up
Once you've worked with your cosmetic dentist to determine the best treatment option, we'll create a mock-up of what your teeth will look like with veneers. When you're 100% happy with your proposed result, we move forward with your chosen treatment.
For Porcelain Veneers: The veneers are prepared in a dental lab over 1-2 weeks. At your next appointment, they are fitted. We promise the result will leave you amazed.
For Composite Veneers: Now it’s time to sit back in the chair and let your dentist get to work. The composite resin is then applied to the front of your teeth and sculpted over the surface like putty. Once the desired shape has been achieved, it’s hardened with a special blue curing light and then polished.
3. Veneer Aftercare
Your dentist may recommend wearing a night guard to keep the veneers looking in top condition for as long as possible. Otherwise, you should treat your veneers like they’re your natural teeth. Stay on top of brushing and flossing, and be sure you attend routine check-ups and hygiene appointments.
When your teeth look great, it's important to make sure they stay great too. This is why we recommend seeing a dental hygienist for routine hygiene appointments to maintain your new smile. You'll get more detailed aftercare instructions at your appointment.

FAQ
How long do veneers last?
Porcelain veneers last around 10-15 years. With proper care, they can last even longer. It's important to remember that while veneers are made of durable material, they are not indestructible. Wear, chipping, and other damage is normal with time.
Composite veneers, on the other hand, last between 5-7 years, sometimes longer if you take extra good care of them. We advise avoiding foods and drinks that stain, keeping up good oral hygiene, and maintaining routine visits to Smileworks. The great thing about composite veneers is they are easily repairable. If your veneers chip or damage, you’re only a single appointment away from fixing it. This process is more complicated for porcelain veneers, as the whole tooth often needs to be replaced.
How do I know if veneers are right for me?
If you want to enhance your smile, veneers are a great option. The choice between porcelain and composite depends on your budget, timeline, and desired longevity. However, the best way to know if veneers are right for you is to book a consultation with our expert team.
What's the difference between porcelain and composite veneers?
Porcelain veneers are made in a dental lab and take 1-2 weeks, last 10-15 years (or more), and cost £850-£1100 per tooth. Composite veneers are sculpted directly onto your teeth using composite resin, last 5-7 years, and cost £300-£450 per tooth. Both deliver beautiful, natural-looking results.
How much are veneers in Liverpool?
At Smileworks, porcelain veneers range from £850-£1100 per tooth, while composite veneers start at £300 per tooth. We also offer 0% financing options to make your treatment more affordable.
Will my teeth need to be drilled or shaved down?
Composite veneers require minimal to no tooth preparation. There is no drilling or shaving down the edges. Your natural enamel will be fully preserved,
However, porcelain veneers do require some level of tooth preparation to ensure the best fit, but we use modern techniques to keep this to a minimum.
Is treatment painful?
